Journey of Hope

The Journey of Hope is a cross-country bicycle trek beginning in San Francisco, CA and ending in Washington, D.C. the purpose is to raise funds and awareness for people with disabilities.

After riding an average of 75 miles a day, they go into the community and greet the people. Giving puppet shows, working with elderly and disabled. It seems like their energy has no bounds.

After a total of 3,390 miles and 63 days across America, they finally make it to Washington D.C. The purpose of this ride is not only to push their own limits. But to raise money for disabilities. Rhyolite is privilaged to host their dinner in the Ghost Town with the help of the Beatty Museum and Historical Society. Make plans to bring your children to the puppet show and give moral support to these wonderful young men.

The young men from Journey of Hope had a wonderful Dinner in Rhyolite and provided us with lots of entertainment, back again with their wonderful puppet show. Looking forward to 2003.

2001
Beta Mu (RPS) had the privilage of having one of the Journey of Hope groups in Rhyolite on the 19th. These young men ride their bikes across America to raise money for disabled children. I don't think I have met a nicer bunch of young men. There is definelty hope for the future yet. By the time they had reached Rhyolite they had riden a little over 800 miles. By the time they complete their rides they will have riden 4,085 miles. This group started on June 10 in Napa, California and will wind up in Washington D.C. on Saturday August 11th. Boy, that is quite a ride!
Beta Mu was the sponsoring organization that fed the young men this trip. It was quite a feast. We also have to thank the Stagecoach Casino and Resturaunt, The Exchange Club and The Burro Inn for suppling the main course of the meal. Also the 76 Station for bottled water and The Little General Store for assorted soft drinks. Thanks guys, we couldn't do it without you.
Well, they are pretty hungry after their long trip!

After the meal they put on a wonderful puppet show for all the children (and grown ups) that was in Rhyolite. It was quite a performance and I have been told by my grandchildren, that they learned a few things that they never knew about disabled children. I think these boys need a big round of applause for their efforts. It was really an enjoyable evening in the ghost town.

As you can see, Mary recived a T-Shirt autographed by all the riders for Beta Mu's Support. To keep the confusion down for the old timers, Mary is not only the President of the Beatty Museum and Historic Society, but also the Vice-President of Beta Mu. Way to go Mary!
