Bottle House Restoration - August 2005 - The plans are to replace broken bottles and restore the house to its former beauty. It was really a large undertaking. We have been fortunate enough to aquire some vintage bottles from The Beatty Museum, The Central Nevada Museum, The Friends of Rhyolite and Claudia Reidhead. Thanks a bunch guys. The Restoration processn began in May of 2005. I know, it has taken awhile. But good things are well worth waiting for. As of the 12th of August the Bottle House was officially rehabilitated. Go here to see the progress and the finished product.
Cook Bank Mainenance - Winter 2004 - On October 25, 2005 the dangerous plaster of paris window plugs were removed from the Cook Bank bldg. Photos are posted showing the progress. Go here to see them.

Southside Cemetery - Started 2003 - Unable to Complete - Better known as the Rhyolite Cemetery. We have found out some interesting facts, but not enough to complete our project. It is in the works to locate and mark the graves. To make things a little more interesting, we have found out that this cemetery washed out twice in 1905 and 06. Christine Adamson Huber, the grandaughter of Dora Boyd remembers her grandfather telling her how he chased the caskets after a hard rain. Well now, that did throw a little wrench in the works. So, if you have any information on the Southside Cemetery, any at all. Please let us know.
Rhyolite Jamboree - First Weekend in April 2002 - One Time Event - Well, the Jamboree is over and what an exciting time we had. The Bureau of Land Mangement estimated over 5,000 people joined in on the fun. Rhyolite really came alive again. Everything from Bluegrass Music, Vendors, lots of food and drink, cowboys along with cowboy poetry. If you did not attend, you missed a really great time. Unfortunatley, we are not receiving the help we need to put on a Jamboree for next year.

Journey of Hope - Started June 2001 - This Event now being held in Beatty
An annual event in partnership with the Beatty Museum and Historical Society - Join us to visit with these outstanding young men and enjoy the puppet show afterwards. Go here to see pictures in Rhyolite.

Las Vegas & Tonopah Depot - June 2000 -One Time Event - The land trade between the Bureau of Land Management and Barrick Bullfrog Mine was completed. Approximately 156 acres that was owned by Barrick in and around the historical Rhyolite Townsite now are under the care of the Bureau of Land Management in Tonopah. THIS INCLUDES THE RAILROAD DEPOT!!! Yup, it will now be possible to rehabilitate and open the Depot up to the public. Of course, it will take a while for the rehabilitation. Grants and or other means of raising funds will be necessary to finance this project. The plans are to have it open as a Rhyolite Museum and Tourist Information Center. Sounds like an impossible project, but anything is possible with enough support. Cross your fingers, send grant information, and watch for the opening in the future.

Tom Kelly's Bottle House - November 2000 - One Time Event - THE BOTTLE HOUSE HAS A NEW ROOF!!! Yup, the Bottle House got a face lift. And it is looking Good! Parchetti Construction and Roofing from Tonopah was the company that was accepted by the Bureau of Land Management for the roofing job, and The Friends of Rhyolite picked up the bill. Good going guys. They also reroofed the porch, which resulted in a stronger support. The porch no longer sags or creaks and the walls are now protected from the rain. Looks like the Bottle House may last a little longer, thanks to the efforts of Parchetti Roofing, The Friends of Rhyolite and the Rhyolite Caretakers.
